i've been stuck at the lab alot these few weeks. instead of twiddling my fingers around waiting for stuff to finish running i've been doing something about the holiday homework. (though i secretly suspect they gave it out with the intention that we wont be handing it in anyway). pooh. progress is slow, every single steps got to be optimized, which pretty much means i've to repeat the same thing twice or thrice?

heh. the first time i cast a gel i failed twice. first time i didn't lock the casting container properly and the gel leaked. REDO. second one i took out the combs before the gel solidified. REDO. my supervisor took over before i had the chance to fail a third. haha. walau. learning everything from scratch isn't easy and after doing so much, we just had a discussion today and i don't think im even halfway done. this is just the wet lab stuff, not considering bioinformatics part of the deal and the report. to think i wanted a one week break off everything somewhere in dec.

i like looking at fish embryos though. see how they grow four cell stage... 64 cell.. 128... tail bud...16 somite.. epiboly... swimming larvae! i'm supposed to memorize this, and this is from memory but there are steps i missed. looking at life through a microscopes really amazing, zebrafish have clear embryos so you can look at the entire growth process, even before a day you start to see the head, tail, eyes, and the tiny muscles pumping blood through vessels. haha. its just fish, i know, but it reminds me what a wonderful thing life is. to exist. its complex, but we still do.

whee... i've been playing hard too.
